Sultan II. Bayezid Kulliyesi Health Museum is a magnificent structure that served as a darusshifa (hospital) during the Ottoman period and has been converted into a museum today. Recognized by UNESCO, this landmark is one of Edirne's most important cultural heritage sites.
History
Built by Sultan Bayezid II in 1488, the complex consists of a mosque, madrasa, darusshifa (hospital), imaret (public kitchen), and hamam (bathhouse). The darusshifa section served as the most advanced healthcare institution of its era.
Museum Experience
At the museum, you can learn in detail about the history of Ottoman medicine, the method of treatment through the sound of water, herbal medicines, and surgical instruments. With interactive exhibitions and sound installations, you virtually travel back in time.
